Streptokinase is a highly purified proteolytic enzyme derived from cultures of hemolytic streptococci. It is used for injection in cases of acute myocardial infarction and severe thrombosis (arterial and venous) to dissolve blood clots. Additionally, it is employed in the treatment of arteriovenous cannula occlusion and pulmonary embolism.
