Aprotinin is a natural polypeptide used in human medicine to reduce the tendency to bleed, e.g., during open-heart surgery or liver surgery.
In molecular biology and biochemistry, aprotinin is an established protease inhibitor, commonly used during cell lysis and protein purification.
